Week Two Review:

Monday “Make n Take”

You can easily make your own dishwasher tablets following this simple step by step. They will clean your dishes naturally.
1. Put 1 cup Baking Soda, 1/4 cup Citric Acid, 1 Tablespoon of On Guard Cleaner Concentrate and 3 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil in a mixing bowl
2. Mix together until the mix has an even consistency.
3. Place in silicon moulds and let sit 4 hours.
4. Store in an airtight container.
5. Use in your dishwasher instead of store bought dishwasher tablets!

Grapefruit’s fresh, invigorating aroma is sure to uplift the mood and please the senses. Pressed from the rind, grapefruit is more than just a fresh scent–its cleansing and invigorating properties have made it a favorite among essential oil lovers.

Have you ever sat down to eat with someone and 30 seconds later they managed to eat

their entire meal?

Or…have YOU ever been guilty of that!? Gasp!

Chewing your food not only allows you to appreciate and savor the taste of that

delicious food, but it also plays a very important role in your digestion.

Chewing breaks down your food from large pieces into smaller, more manageable

pieces in order to be easily digested.

It also makes it easier for your intestines to absorb the nutrients and energy from the

food as it passes through your body.

If you’re like most people, you chew just enough naturally to where you can comfortably

swallow your food – and you do it

without even thinking about it.

However this week, I’m

challenging you to chew your

food even LONGER than that.

How much longer?! How about

trying at least 15-20 chews per


That should slow things down enough for you to see some real improvements:

1. The smaller the food particles are, the easier it is for your body to digest…so you’ll

be able to absorb more nutrients and energy from your food!

2. Salivary amylase actually starts breaking down carbohydrates in your mouth…so

you’re getting a head start on digestion.

3. You’ll eat LESS food. People eat about 10% less when they eat more slowly.

4. It’s good for your teeth and gums.

5. You’ll enjoy your food a lot more!

Your challenge this week is to be more

aware of how much chewing and how

slowly you’re eating your food.

space!? How about finally letting go of those pants you’ve been hanging on to forever!

It’s time to purge that closet!

Maybe it’s a pair of your favorite old jeans you used to wear every day that have finally

worn down.

Or maybe it’s that sweater that is just so comfy but so stretched out it looks like a moo


Your challenge this week is to block off some time to get in there and purge! I promise,

you’ll thank me after!

Check out these 7 recommended questions to ask yourself while deciding:

 Does this fit me?

 Have I worn it anytime within the last year?

 Is it likely I’ll ever wear it again?

 Do I feel confident and good about myself when I wear this?

 Does it reflect my style?

 Have I had this for a while and are the tags still on it!?

 If I saw this in the store right now, would I buy it?

If you answer any NO’s on the questions above, then it’s probably time to say goodbye!

Once you’ve decided to break up with those items, take a

minute to decide if you should donate or sell them.

Now that you’ve made some extra room in your closet,

you just may want to go out and get something new!

It feels GREAT to get rid of old things.

Meditate for at least 10 Minutes Daily

When is the last time you meditated?

With the busy hustle of day-to- day activities, life can leave us feeling stressed,

exhausted, disconnected, and overwhelmed.

Sometimes it seems there’s just not enough time in the day to get everything done, and

it can really begin to take a toll on our health and mental state.

So how do you fit in an extra 10 minutes for meditation? That seems crazy right?! It’s


Finding 10-15 minutes can actually help give you more time by reducing your stress

levels and allow you to focus more on the task at hand.

Meditation has also been shown to improve your immune system, brain health,

decrease anxiety, improve self-esteem, improve mental strength, and contribute to

happy, and from unsettled to peaceful.

Don’t let Your Portion be Your Poison!

Portion control is one of the BIGGEST contributing factors when it comes to reaching your goals.  Too much of anything is not a good thing.  

Watching your portion size can absolutely mean the difference between success and failure in any weight loss or fitness journey.

It’s a lot easier than you think!  A lot of it comes down to what’s right in front of you when you sit down to eat!  

Researchers in Australia studied 100 adults in a portion control study.  After educating the participants on “eating slowly” and eating only until they were full, the researchers gave one group a 600-gram portion of macaroni and tomato sauce and the other group 350 grams of the exact same meal.

“Overall, the large-portion participants ate 34 percent more food than those given the smaller helping.”

This goes to show that even if you’re educated and know how to eat slowly, most people will eat what’s right in front of them!  So the key here is to be mindful of what you put on your plate.  

Check out these tips for portion control…

  1. Be mindful of what the actual serving sizes are for what you’re eating
  2. Measure and weigh your food until you have a solid idea of what a true portion looks like
  3. Use a smaller plate for your food or put less on a larger plate!
  4. Practice eating slowly and listening to your body
  5. Eat until you’re about 80% full
