Week Thirteen Review:

“Make n Take” Monday

Making a homemade cuticle cream is a great way to bring moisture and health back to nails. It can also be used on hands, lips, or anywhere with dry spots.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons shea butter
1 teaspoon beeswax
7 drops Lavender or Myrrh oil
 
Instructions
  1. In small glass container, combine shea butter, beeswax, and Fractionated Coconut Oil
  2. Place in saucepan with 1–1 ½ inches of boiling water
  3. Stir ingredients for 5–10 minutes until combined
    Tip: Use a popsicle stick for easy cleanup. 
  4. Once melted, remove from heat and let rest for 3 minutes
  5. Add essential oils and stir
  6. Pour into container and let harden 2–3 hours
  7. To use, just apply a small amount to cuticles and rub until absorbed.

“Wellness” Wednesday

Topical Use of Essential Oils: Topical application is one of the ways you can experience the benefits of doTERRA essential oils. This form of application is unique because it allows for localized effects in the area of the application in addition to providing whole body support. Additionally, you can use essential oils topically when you want an easy way to target specific areas on your body.

Face: Use essential oil as part of your regular skin care regimen to beautify the skin and promote a clear, healthy looking complexion.

Neck/Forehead/Temples: These areas are good to target feelings of tension.

Abdomen:
Application of essential oils, especially over major digestive organs.

Arms/Legs/Back: Massage onto the arms, wrists, legs, feet, or back after physical activity.

Roof of the Mouth (Soft Palette)/Base of the Skull: Applying oils to these areas is an excellent way to help transform your mood and balance your emotions.

Chest: Rubbing oils onto the chest promotes feelings of clear breathing.

Bottoms of Feet: The feet have large pores that rapidly absorb essential oils, making this an ideal application site for generalized effect. Apply and massage in 2–4 drops of essential oil.

9 ways to use Grapefruit oil for weight loss + fun fact + diffuser recipe

As the season heats up, it’s time to spotlight one of my favorite dōTERRA citrus oils. This time of year is generally a time to get organized, in shape, and ready for summer vacations.  I use doTERRA Grapefruit oil as part of a spring detox routine. Grapefruit essential oil adds a delicious flavor to any beverage for a sweet twist as it helps to cleanse the body of any unwanted toxins in support of a healthy metabolism.

  1. Add a few drops grapefruit oil to your water throughout the day to support a healthy metabolism and have a positive effect on your digestive system
  2. Are you trying to shed some extra weight or stick to a diet? Use Grapefruit essential oil to help you meet your goals. Add a few drops of Grapefruit oil into a diffuser to help increase motivation.
  3. Apply topically as grapefruit can be a great diuretic and lymphatic stimulant (one of my favorite oils to use for dry brushing)
  4. Add 1-2 drops to a smoothie for a refreshing twist
  5. Add several drops to your wrist and chest when a craving strikes
  6. Add 1-2 drops grapefruit oil to your water because of its antibacterial abilities,  it is able to reduce yeast/candida which causes cravings for many of us with gut imbalances
  7. Add 15 drops grapefruit oil or Slim-n-Sassy to a nasal inhaler because grapefruit oil is known to lower cravings when inhaled directly
  8. Combine Grapefruit and Elevation for a tangy combination, it uplifts your mood and provides an energizing aroma. It’s a great motivation boost to help set your mindset and accomplish your spring-cleaning (of your home and body) this season.
  9. Adding a few drops to your diffuser necklace is a great place to receive continual support throughout the day and stay motivated

Fun Fact
The name “grapefruit” is attributed to the fruits growing in clusters that resemble those of grapes.

Oils that Blend Well with Grapefruit Essential Oil
Grapefruit blends well with a variety of different essential oils for additional body and mind benefits. For an ideal blend, combine Grapefruit with Frankincense, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, and Bergamot essential oils for diffusion.

Cautions-Good to Know!
Possible skin sensitivity.  Avoid sunlight or UV rays for up to 12 hours after applying product.

Lip stains make for a perfect DIY project because they only contain a few ingredients, and the colors are completely customizable. These recipes contain Lemon, Lavender, Peppermint and Grapefruit oils, which can all create an invigorating aromatic experience when applied topically.

“Tip OFF” Tuesday

Tuesday Tip-off! IN the morning, apply one to two drops of Citrus Bliss to the bottom of your feet to invigorate your mood and prepare you for the day. 

“Wellness” Wednesday

Tips To Improve Athletic Performance Pre-and Post-Workout

  • Whatever sport you participate in, trainers recommend using different oils in both pre- and post-workouts.
  • Before any workout or therapy use Deep Blue rub, and then reapply post workout.
  • An AromaTouch® Hand Technique treatment before or after an event can help relieve tension.
  • Pre-workout some runners like to use Peppermint or doTERRA Breathe essential oil for a feeling of clear airways. Apply four to five drops to the chest five minutes before exercise or an event.
  • For improved confidence, use doTERRA Balance™ essential oil.
  • Post workout, place four drops of Lemon into 16 ounces of water and drink, then apply Lemongrass to calves.
  • Also try White Fir, Wintergreen, and Frankincense essential oils during post workout for muscle tension.

Olive oil melt-and-pour soap base
Silicone mold
15 drops Spearmint oil
15 drops Rosemary oil
Optional: Dried herbs
